Grooming History:

Began Hand Stripping in 2011 with her own personal dog, a Welsh Terrier, Guinness.

Retail Pet Services Experience, Village Pets, 2012-2014

Completed grooming training alongside a master groomer of 20 years in San Francisco in 2013, with Who Let the Dogs Out mobile service.

Ran a self contained mobile van city wide in San Francisco from 2013-2014. Serviced anywhere from 3 to 5 dogs per day depending on scheduling and types of dogs serviced. All services performed including basic and deshedding baths, partial and full grooms. All breed and cross breed styles executed.

Worked for a stand alone pet store from 2014-2016 in Oakland Ca, performing grooming on dogs and cats of all breeds, types and sizes.

Founded Leading the Pack in Oakland CA in 2017, Sold December 2020. Built out the salon with the help of designers and contractors from the ground up. Worked along with the city of Oakland building and zoning departments as well as the State of California to properly set up the salon from scratch. Started a one-on-one appointment based grooming service to cater to dogs of all shapes in sizes in a bustling Oakland neighborhood. Participated in Neighborhood Business Improvement District, Street Fairs and Neighborhood Outreach Programs to help grow the business and improve outreach in the community regarding pet care. By 2020 Leading the Pack had 4 groomers and a receptionist and was booked out for a year with 1000+ reoccurring clients. During the Pandemic LTP was forced to shut for 3 months but were able to provide at home care-kits with instructions and basic tools to clients in order to upkeep coat during our shut-down.

While running Leading the Pack Caitlyn focused on continuing education for herself as well as the employees at the time. Regular attendance at the Pasadena Groom Expo West occurred along with CPR certification, online training and seminars and membership to local, state and national grooming organizations.

2016 Caitlyn acquired her first show dog, CH Darwyn’s Tawny Tangerine CA (Tangie) and began learning to show-groom hand strip her Welsh Terrier. Tangie began her show career in 2017 which can be referenced on her web page.

2021 Caitlyn moved to NY and acquired her two Sealyham Terriers and began to dive into hand stripping a short-legged terrier, which is proving to be one of the more difficult terriers to groom!

2024 Caitlyn opened That Dashing Dog, a luxury one-on-one grooming space featuring hand stripping services and custom pet styling to suit your canine’s lifestyle.

Schnauzer 2 ways

These littermates came to Caitlyn for a partial strip/clip starting at just 9 weeks old! They grew to love the spa experience and Caitlyn tailored each trim to the dog’s coat and maintenance schedule.

Toy Poodle

This little red Toy Poodle came to Caitlyn from puppyhood and tried a few different fun styles at the groomer’s picking. Every time We had fun with this little pup and the whole family enjoyed the cute doo we would come up with!

Bernedoodle Bonanza

There were a lot of doodles in Oakland and this is a cute Doodle puppy after one of his first trims. Caitlyn likes to give the owner a maintainable haircut with instructions on proper training and care on the first few appointments. Together Caitlyn and the Owner can find a style that fits the dog’s lifestyle and coat type.

Pomeranian

Everyone loves a fluffy tailored Pomeranian booty!

Bouvier X Poodle

Caitlyn LOVES grooming the big doodles and lots of favorites. This guy was a Bouvier Poodle mix who just loved his spa day and was an absolute joy to groom.

Norfolk Terriers

These two little troublemakers would come in every 3-4 months for a total hand stripping pull down to the PJs and would be the highlight of everyone’s day at the salon as they would have the funniest antics and sound effects.

Old English Sheepdog

Stella the OES was an Entry into an online grooming contest with Caitlyn during the pandemic. Stella came in every 5 weeks for her bath and style and always had a mound of hair for Caitlyn to Sculpt.
